Situated in Rockton, Ontario, just 30 minutes north of downtown Hamilton and a few minutes from the Rockton World’s Fair grounds, Westfield Heritage Village is a living history experience. A filming location for the popular Anne of Green Gables film series, here is where you can explore the history of southern Ontario with over 35 historical buildings, a rare steam locomotive and 120 hectares of picturesque nature trails. Visitors can travel through our dynamic past from the early European and Iroquois settlement of the Georgian period, through the industrialization of the Victorian period and into the rapidly changing turn of the 19th century. The entire family will enjoy an historical adventure through homes, businesses, trades, and the traditional farming, military and cultural life of the times by engaging in demonstrations, stories and special events brought alive by friendly costumed interpreters.
Owned by the City of Hamilton and operated by the Hamilton Conservation Authority, Westfield Heritage Village is open to the public Sundays and holidays in March until the end of October. Year round school programs range from pioneer life to archaeology to paleontology to media studies.
