Telling Tales Bookmark Contest

Enter the Telling Tales Bookmark Contest this summer!

Contest runs between Friday, June 30, 2017 and Monday, July 31, 2017

Click here to download and print the 2017 Telling Tales Bookmark Contest entry form, or pick one up at the Hamilton Public Library, or Brantford Public Library. Children 3 to 14 can create a bookmark showing how stories take you anywhere. Then submit your entry to one of these locations:

The City of Hamilton is a proud supporter of Telling Tales. In anticipation of the Telling Tales Festival and Canada’s 150th anniversary, the City is giving away FREE books to children at Ontario Early Years Centres and Parenting and Family Literacy Centres while quantities last. Children may also participate in the Telling Tales bookmark contest at these sites.

The Hamilton Public Library is hosting a special contest as part of their Summer Reading Program. Kids registered for the Hamilton Public Library Summer Reading Program are encouraged to read books from the Telling Tales Reading List, then track their reading online at for a chance to win an exclusive Telling Tales VIP Experience Family Pass. Draw takes place at the end of July.

HPL Tween Writing Contest

Contest runs between Friday, June 30, 2017 and Sunday, September 3, 2017

Calling all writers! Don’t miss Hamilton Public Library’s 6th Annual Writing Contest for Tweens!

Children between 10 and 12 years old can write an original story, under 1,000 words, for their chance to win a private writing workshop!

The Prize: Ten winners will receive an invitation to a private writing workshop with author Lisa Dalrymple at the 9th Annual Telling Tales Festival on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Westfield Heritage Village.

All entries from that day will be put into a random draw and the lucky winner(s) will be selected and announced by 5 p.m. the following day. Contests are eligible for Canadian entries only. All meet and greets will occur in Hamilton, ON and transportation is not provided.
