The Telling Tales Festival is now recognized as Canada’s most important children’s literary festival, and has been recognized provincially as one of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals since 2012.

The Telling Tales Festival is a free, one-day, outdoor festival that brings together Canadian authors, illustrators, musicians and storytellers with their audience – our children. But more importantly, we have a yearlong commitment to promoting literacy and inspiring a love of reading. Plus, Festival proceeds support ongoing literacy projects in our community.

Where do our visitors come from?

In 2015 we anticipate over 7,000 people will attend the Telling Tales Festival. Approximately 75% of our guests travel from the greater Hamilton area, while 25% of our visitors travel from the Greater Toronto area, Kitchener, Cambridge, Guelph, Waterloo, Brantford, Milton, Oakville, Burlington and the Niagara region.
