Meet Jeremy Tankard

Jeremy Tankard is the author/illustrator (or, as he likes to call himself, “authorstrator”) of the successful Grumpy Bird and its sequel Boo Hoo Bird. This year he will be launching the newest book in the Bird series, Hungry Bird, at Telling Tales! He will speak about his journey from childhood doodling to successful authorstrator, do some drawings and read from some of his books.

Meet Kari-Lynn Winters

Get ready for a swashbuckling good time! Join Kari-Lynn Winters, award winning children’s author, playwright, poet and performer, for a playful pirate tale from her books Bad Pirate and Good Pirate. Find out if it’s bad to be a good pirate, or good to be a bad pirate!

Meet Barbara Reid

Barbara Reid is one of Canada’s best known illustrators of children’s books. Creator of favourites: The PartyWelcome Baby and the bestselling Sing a Song of Mother Goose, her unique plasticine illustrations are recognized around the world, and her picture books have won dozens of awards. Barbara will share the stories behind the pictures from her books, including her newest Sing a Song of Bedtime. Please join the fun!

Meet Andrew Larsen

Andrew Larsen will be presenting his newest picture books: A Squiggly Story, which explores how worlds are opened up when children begin to read and write; and The Not-So-Faraway Adventure that features characters who were first introduced in The Imaginary Garden. They discover that the best adventures are often found right outside your door. Hear Andrew share his stories and perhaps you will be inspired to share one of your own.

Meet Ruth Ohi

Come create with scribbles and your imagination! Join Ruth Ohi, author/illustrator of over 18 picture books. She’ll show us how to create characters and stories through an interactive brainstorming drawing demo featuring her latest books: Scribble and Fox and Squirrel: The Best Christmas Ever.

Meet Bill Slavin

Bill Slavin has illustrated over 100 books for kids, including the award-winning Stanley series, graphic novel trilogy Elephants Never Forget, and best-selling Transformed: How Everyday Things are Made.
