A message from our Chair & Executive Director

Dear Friends of Telling Tales
These are, as we know, uncertain times and we are all managing our way through the Covid-19 crisis day by day. The safety of our staff, friends and supporters is our top concern. We hope everyone is well — and has enough to read.

Of course, our plans for 2020 are changing as school and community events need to be adjusted and new paths considered. The official launch has been moved to a digital launch on May 14, just before the Victoria Day long weekend. We look forward to revealing our new website at that time. One thing is certain. More than ever, people are going to need books, reading and storytelling over the next few weeks and months.

So Telling Tales is staying positive and moving forward. We will continue to plan for our much loved and needed festival. In the meantime, the current situation has given the team the gift of time to develop a digital strategy and explore new ways to promote books, reading and the arts online. We aim to do much to continue to be a valuable resource for information and inspiration and continue to bring books and book lovers together.

Now seems like a perfect time to jolly ourselves along by revealing this year’s illustration to support our very timely theme, “Stories Connect Us.” Illustration by local artist, Charlene Chua.

Stay well, everyone.
Warmly,
Gillian O’Reilly (Chair) and Susan Jasper (ED)

Thank you to Hamilton/Toronto Artist Charlene Chua for this incredible illustration!
