Storybook characters come to life at Telling Tales
Every year kids love meeting historical and literary characters at the Telling Tales Festival. They learn about the stories, characters and authors in an interactive way. Families laugh with Cinderella’s Step Sisters, find out about the spirited Anne of Green Gables, and discover interesting tidbits of information from a variety of storybook characters including Mother Goose, Alice in Wonderland, Tinkerbell and the Paper Bag Princess.
As part of the “Tell Your Tale” contest, children are encouraged to visit with many of the characters they find, and then draw a picture or write something interesting they learned.
This year a dozen prizes were awarded to the top entries. Our lucky winners each received a family pass, books and Telling Tales swag. A special thank you to all of our generous supporters for donating prizes: A family voucher for Theatre Aquarius’ production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, family passes to Westfield Heritage Village, Hamilton Conservation Authority and Art Gallery of Hamilton, and of course lots of Telling Tales presenter books!
Our expert panel of judges from Westfield Heritage Village and the Creative Theatre Company helped select the top three entries in each age category. Thank you everyone for entering, and congratulations to all of the winners!
