Telling Stories at Telling Tales
Congratulations to the 2016 “Tell Your Tale” contest winners!
Literary and historical characters are very popular at the Telling Tales Festival. They bring stories to life as they stroll around Westfield talking to families. Children have the opportunity to meet and speak with characters like Anne of Green Gables, Cinderella’s evil step sisters, Pippi Longstocking, and Mother Goose.
During the Festival, Westfield Heritage Village volunteers dress as historical characters and Creative Theatre Company acting students portray a variety of literary characters.
Interacting with costumed characters is always a fun part of the Festival, that’s why we offer a “Tell Your Tale” contest. During the Festival children are encouraged to visit with many of the characters they find walking around Westfield. Then they can draw or write something interesting they learned.
This year over a dozen wonderful prizes were awarded. Our lucky winners each received a family pass, books and Telling Tales swag. A special thank you to all of our generous supporters for donating prizes: A family voucher for Theatre Aquarius’ production of Beauty and the Beast, family passes to Westfield Heritage Village, Hamilton Conservation Authority and Art Gallery of Hamilton, Mabel’s Labels personalized name stickers, book prizes from Bunjee App, and of course Telling Tales presenter books!
We received many wonderful entries this year full of interesting character details. Our expert panel of judges from Westfield Heritage Village and the Creative Theatre Company helped select the top three in each age category.
Thank you everyone for entering and congratulations to all of the winners!
